The historical and cultural "landscape" to be found between Venice, Athens and Istanbul (Constantinople) is immense and profound. This sea route has seen trade, war, faith and conquest. So much of what we take for granted as part of our daily lives in the 21st century came from and through this part of the world over the past several thousand years. While a two-week cruise is as superficial as a ship that skims the surface of the ancient Mediterranean, it's an honor just to share these places and try to listen to the stories each whispers. I hope that this "travel log" will allow us to share a bit of the color and adventure we shall experience. All aboard!
This trip-log will be a work in progress during the full extent of our travels: 25 October to 15 November 2023. Delays in posting the events and photos of any day may be due to restraints of time, physical weariness and, most of all, the uncertainty of internet availability, speeds and connectivity on the cruise ship as well as in the various port-of-call. I'll endeavor to note at the top of the homepage, when a new page is added, with a link to that day's postings.
